Ford reveals new Ecosport with all-wheel-drive

Retailers expect that soon they will know more information regarding the Indian engine and its trim versions. It has the improved EcoSport abilities on the road as well as in the outdoor areas.

We've never been massive fans of the Ford EcoSport. Buyers considering a Peugeot 2008, Renault Captur or Citroen C4 Cactus will be interested to learn that while (like the rivals listed) the EcoSport was previously front-wheel drive, it'll be offered with a 4x4 option from "mid-2018".

Ford EcoSport will be the famous model to India because of its hit records. This compact SUV, in fact, was the first of its kind to go on sale in India.

Ford has revealed a new version of the Ecosport compact SUV which, for the first time, offers Ford Intelligent all-wheel-drive technology.

The EcoSport can now be had with Ford's All Wheel Drive technology along with a new 1.5 litre EcoBlue diesel engine with 124bhp, along with 138bhp, 124bhp and - from mid-2018 - a 99bhp 1.0 litre EcoBoost.

Improved occupant protection now includes driver and passenger front airbags; a driver knee airbag; new side airbags that provide extra thorax protection and are created to direct the occupant away from an impact; and new curtain airbags that provide maximum side-impact coverage. Finally, it got increased and became 125PS and 300 Nm. As for powertrains, available six-speed manual gearbox and automatic transmission (with paddles).

As some of you might be aware, the dorky-looking EcoSport was designed in South America several years ago as a replacement for the auto we know as the Fusion hatchback. It has a range of options which will customise our EcoSport along with contrast roof options in Europe. A user-centric, new interior is claimed to offer a superior occupant experience with floating central 8-inch touchscreen, heated steering wheel and smart stowage solutions including an adjustable boot floor.

Sync 3, the latest generation infotainment system is present in this auto. The lower trims, though, will get a smaller 6.5-inch colour touchscreen. Production for Europe will take place at the automaker's Craiova factory in Romania.

The new EcoSport features Ford SUV styling, reflecting that of the mid-sized Kuga and large Edge.

The 1.0-litre three-cylinder EcoBoost, which would be the other petrol engine choice, is offered only with a five-speed manual gearbox at the moment.
