Haryana minister withdraws Rs 51 lakh assistance to Dera

CBI judge Jagdeep Singh granted permission in this regard on Friday after Panchkula deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Mahabir Singh moved an application before the court, contending that they can not bring the dera chief in person due to law and order problem. He will be presented before a Panchkula court Friday.

The Haryana Police also arrested the sect's IT head Vineet Insaan from Sirsa. They have been booked under the relevant sections of the IPC, including the sedition charge, said Singh. The case, filed in 2002, accuses Ram Rahim of sexually exploiting two women followers at his ashram; he has denied any wrongdoing.

She even accompanied Ram Rahim in the government helicopter from Panchkula to Rohtak after he was convicted in the rape cases and was being shifted to the prison near Rohtak.

His conviction led to violence in Panchkula and Sirsa in Haryana, leaving 38 people dead and 264 injured. The CBI court is hearing the cases of murder of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati and former Dera manager Ranjit Singh.

"We have made adequate security arrangements ahead of the hearing in the cases", Haryana DGP Sandhu said here.

Rapist Ram Rahim is now lodged in the District Jail at Sunaria near Rohtak.

Talking to media here, Haryana Education minister Ram Bilas Sharma said, "The announcement of discretionary grant of 51 lakh to Dera Sacha Sauda was withdrawn on August 25, when Ram Rahim was convicted".

Five police personnel, three from Haryana, one from Punjab and one from Rajasthan were already nabbed in the case.
