Pakistan look to seal Independence Cup against World XI

World-XI beat Pakistan by seven wickets in the second T-20 of Independence Cup in Lahore on Wednesday night and levelled the series 1-1. Pakistan, who won the toss and elected to bat, made 174-6 in the second Twenty20 global against the World XI at Gaddafi Stadium on September 13. His career best Twenty20 score had ten boundaries and two sixes.

It was left to Ahmed Shehzad and Babar Azam to fix the innings, like they did with their 122-run stand on Tuesday.

Then came Sri Lankan Thisara Perera, whose whirlwind 19-ball 36 studded with five sixes, including the match-winner.

Amla, the classy right-handed opener, remained unbeaten for a splendid 55-ball 72 laced with five fours and two sixes.

For Pakistan, paceman Sohail Khan and leg-spinner Shadab Khan finished with two wickets apiece. Sammy did cause slight jitters with his six-hitting skills but they did not turn out to be enough to beat Pakistan.

Earlier in the match, Shehzad became the first Pakistan player to hit three successive sixes. Imad Wasim was another batsman who contributed significant 15 runs as the Pakistani batsmen failed to hit huge shots and big total.

SpaceX releases blooper reel of Falcon 9 "landings"
In a 2005 interview, Musk said, " Failure is an option here", and, "If things are not failing, you are not innovating enough". While you might think that SpaceX would want to hide its failed landings, Elon Musk's firm has done the opposite.

Thisara Perera and Samuel Badree bowled brilliantly for World XI as they bagged two wickets each and restricted Pakistan to post a mammoth total.

Badree was one of two changes made by World XI along with England's Paul Collingwood - playing his first worldwide since retiring in 2011.

BOWLING: Morkel 4-0-20-0 (3w); Cutting 4-0-52-1 (2w); Badree 4-0-31-2 (1w); Collingwood 2-0-18-0 (1w); Perera 3-0-23-1 (1nb); Imran Tahir 3-0-29-1 (1w).

In the end, the momentum lost during his stay could have proven to be costly for the World XI if not for Perera's late assault. Pakistan: Ahmed Shehzad, Babar Azam, Sarfraz Ahmed (capt, wk), Shoaib Malik, Usman Khan, Fahim Ashraf, Umar Amin, Mohammad Nawaz, Imad Wasim, Aamer Yamin, Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali, Rumman Raees, Sohail Khan.

Shoaib tried to lift the run-rate and in the process cracked three sixes and a four in a 23-ball 39 but he did not get support from the other end.

Perera ensured World XI takes the series to the decisive game Friday when he reached victory in style by hoisting left-armer Raees over the long-on boundary.
