Paul McClean's body recovered from crocodile lair in Sri Lanka

A 24-year-old reporter for the Financial Times, Paul McClean, has died after apparently being attacked by a crocodile on holiday in Sri Lanka.

He said a colleague told him a body had been found but is yet to be identified by police.

The owner of Safa Surf School, Fawas Lafeer, said that the witnesses definitely saw a crocodile take him into the water. Otherwise, people come and enjoy surfing at the Elephant rock and feel completely safe at the lovely beach.

An unpleasant incident occurred with the London journalist Paul McClain in the Bay of the lagoon, bearing the name of "Crocodile mountain" in Sri Lanka.

In July 2016, a Sri Lankan man aged 60 was killed in a crocodile attack while he was fishing. "Both tourists and locals surf at Elephant Rock, which is a attractive secluded beach and very safe", Mr Lafeer said.

US Imposes Visa Limits on Nations Refusing to Take Back Deportees
The Homeland Security Department said Wednesday the countries are being punished "due to lack of cooperation" on deportations. Four countries were penned for fresh visa restrictions by the United States according to a State Department notice in August.

Locals claimed the victim had been staying at the East Beach Surf Resort - located just minutes away from the surfing area he went missing from.

Staff at the newspaper on Friday paid tribute to Paul McClean, who joined the publication as a graduate trainee two years ago, describing him as "warm, amusing and talented". They are 90 percent sure it was a crocodile but a couple of the guys said there was quicksand in the lagoon, he added.

He had covered the European Union and Brexit, having spent a couple of months living in Brussels this year.

He said McClean had gone into the jungle to go to the toilet just before the incident happened and later washed his hands in the water.

A keen squash player and football fan - he described himself as a "long-suffering Evertonian" - McClean was tireless when mastering a new beat, investing weeks in understanding aviation issues to produce a groundbreaking piece explaining the implications of Brexit on the sector. "They can't do anything because the river is deep and murky, it is not very clear". "The salt water actually turns them blind", Lafeer told Telegraph.
