'Want to go when still at top,' Ashish Nehra confirms cricket retirement

Nehra is now part of three-match T20I series against Australia but he didn't feature in the first two matches.

The 38-year-old pacer, who made his worldwide debut in December 1999 against Sri Lanka, was picked for Friday's third T20I match against Australia.

Veteran speedster Ashish Nehra has chose to retirement from worldwide cricket after the first Twenty20 match against New Zealand at the Feroz Shah Kotla, his home ground, on November 1. "And that this is the right time for me to go". "Always good to retire when people ask why instead of why not". "If I retire, I won't even play the IPL", Nehra said at a press conference ahead of India's final T20I against Australia in Hyderabad.

"I always wanted to retire on a high".

"Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah are the form bowlers and Ashish felt that it's only fair in the interest of the team that they continue".

Nehra has played 17 Tests and 120 ODIs, while his tally of T20Is is at 26 with one match left in the Australia series.

Status of high stakes Spain-Catalonia standoff
About 2.3 million Catalans, or 43 per cent of the electorate in the wealthy northeastern region, voted in the referendum. It was the leader's first speech since the controversial October 1 referendum.

If the reports are to be believed, Nehra had made a decision to exclude himself from the playing eleven in the opening match of ongoing three-match T20 global series. One thought that he would like to continue till the home season against Sri Lanka.

The left-arm speedster, who is now with the Virat Kohli-led Indian side, announced his decision here during the pre-match press conference.

The Delhi-native has collected 44, 157 and 34 wickets in Test, ODI and T20I cricket in his 18-year global career.

It is learnt that a few IPL franchises want Nehra as their bowling coach-cum-mentor as his expertise and knowledge with white ball is considered to be unparalleled.

Earlier, Nehra was quoted as saying that he wants to play for another two years, but now it seems that that is not going to happen. "But I am just trying my level best", Nehra was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo after he was selected for the Australia series.
