Pokémon GO AR Photo Contest Launches

CNN reported that a Russian-linked campaign called "Don't Shoot Us", likely run by Moscow-linked "troll farm" Internet Research Agency, used Pokemon Go - among several other mediums including Facebook and Twitter - and posed as a part of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Russia's far-ranging campaign to promote dissension in the United States reportedly included an effort to weaponize Pokémon Go.

Once the players caught a Pokemon, they were told to change its name to someone who had been a victim of police brutality.

Trudeau turns attention to Mexico in midst of tensions over NAFTA
Trudeau will travel to Mexico on Thursday to hold additional NAFTA talks with his Mexican counterpart, Enrique Pena Nieto. However, Trump continued to disparage the 23-year-old accord and promote the idea of bilateral trade deals.

The CNN story came after the New York Times reported earlier this month that Kremlin-linked cyber workers promoted content on Facebook that appeared to be of American origin, but was created to sow division on political issues, including the Black Lives Matter movement. The Facebook page was one of 470 pages that were removed after the company determined that it was linked to Russian groups attempting to interfere in U.S. politics.

CNN has not found any evidence that any Pokémon Go users attempted to enter the contest, or whether any of the Amazon Gift Cards that were promised were ever awarded - or, indeed, whether the people who designed the contest ever had any intention of awarding the prizes.

CNN said the "Don't Shoot Us" group was one of the 470 found on Facebook. Its YouTube and Tumblr pages, though, remain active - though the Tumblr page has shifted to posts about Palestine.
