'Wear Purple Day' for domestic violence awareness is October 19

Southcentral Foundation has a program called Family Wellness Warriors Initiative, which is centered around the idea that Domestic Violence can be ended in this generation.

Three Halifax County natives have lost their lives to domestic violence since December, including Tearron Clayborn Medley on Dec. 9, Wendy Perkins on January 18 and Quanta Nashall Chandler on March 10.

The signs, "happy" and "hope", could refer to the elimination of circumstances leading to domestic violence.
