Transgender footballer Hannah Mouncey knocked back by AFLW

Hannah Mouncey broke into the national spotlight a few days ago when it was made clear that her nomination for the AFLW draft had been confirmed, though there was still debate as to whether or not she is actually eligible for the draft.

But Lee Gaskin, a reporter working for the AFL in Australia, said on Twitter that the game's governing body deemed her "physical disparity is significant and would give unreasonable advantage".

The League's ruling applies exclusively to Wednesday's AFL Women's Draft and the next AFLW season, meaning Mouncey can nominate for eligibility in future drafts and register in other competitions. I think her levels that she's tested at, as I understand it, you guys just talked about the International Olympic Committee guidelines, she's well, well within the testosterone levels that the International Olympic Committee will allow and I think they (The AFL) will rely on that.

The AFL's general manager of inclusion and social policy, Tanya Hosch, thanked Mouncey for her understanding in going through the process. "She has contributed to a process which will substantially inform the development of the AFL's transgender policy and procedure for future players at the elite level".

Mouncey had previously played for the Australian men's handball team before transitioning - she has played several games in the ACT women's AFL competition in 2017.

Mouncey may nominate for future AFLW drafts and for registration in other Australian football competitions.

"The subcommittee carefully considered all of the information provided by Hannah, as well as the available data on transgender strength, stamina, physique along with the specific nature of the AFLW competition", the AFL said in a statement.

Over a month, it has seen its stock price volatility to stay at 2.97% while shortening the period to a week, volatility was 2.55%. Also, it has an estimated price-earnings (P/E) multiple of 14.84 and a trailing 12-month price-earnings (P/E) multiple of 17.66.

"Probably the biggest person in all of this is Hannah herself, so from her point of view, we've got to be mindful of all of that".

Mouncey played for Ainslie in the AFL Canberra women's competition and began transitioning from male to female in 2015.

"Good luck to all the girls who nominated for the AFLW draft tomorrow, especially my mates from Canberra. I also think they will develop a policy for future cases".

"We will continue to support her from both legal and wellbeing perspectives".

It comes as Mouncey's opponent and Greater Western Sydney Giants midfielder Britt Tully called for the transgender ruck to be allowed to play at the highest level possible.

'I want to see the maximum amount of trans people playing sport and being accepted at all levels but equally importantly, I want to see the integrity of women's sport maintained, ' Ms Miller told The Australian. "At the moment I am not in a position to make any comment surrounding my availability for the draft", Mouncey wrote.

Tully says Gungahlin were aware Mouncey was one of Ainslie's key players ahead of their clash earlier this year but they didn't fear her or focus all of their energy on stopping her.
