1 lakh employees of MSRTC goes on indefinite strike

The state transport buses stayed off the roads, causing inconvenience to passengers.

Thousands of passengers are going to face hardship in traveling to their home town on the eve of Diwali as the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) employees have made a decision to go on a strike on the demand of salary hike.

The MSRTC staff have stopped plying ST buses from midnight yesterday demanding implementation of the 7th Pay Commission and an interim hike of 25 per cent till the pay panel's recommendations are implemented.

Not even a single bus has left from the Bus Depot in major cities like Mumbai, Pune, Ratnagiri, Solapur and Thane. The transport undertaking incurs a loss of Rs 450 crore per year.

According to the petitions, almost 65 lakh people travel by state transport buses on a daily basis. Of the 58,000 buses that run daily, only 681 trips were made in the entire day.

If they are found to have violated any policy, the school will take, "appropriate disciplinary action", the press release said. Three of the give girls in the video are cheerleaders, which puts them in the spotlight of the school's athletic culture.

"Here, the MSRTC employees are very much aware that it is Diwali season and lakhs of people use their service to go to their hometowns, but still they went on strike", petitioners' advocate Pooja Thorat said.

The Maharashtra State ST Kamagar Sanghatana (MSSKS) which is supported by six other labour unions have given an indefinite strike.

The MSRTC will go on strike starting today as their demands regarding the 7th Pay Commission were not addressed.

He said that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Transport Minister Diwakar Raote have taken some steps to resolve the issue, but he said that they "want a final solution this time".

Maharashtra State transport workers called for an indefinite strike at midnight on Monday and have refused to call it off till they are paid better salaries.
