Megyn Kelly: "I Complained" About Bill O'Reilly's Behavior

Megyn Kelly:

Kelly read from an email she sent Fox News management in November 2016 complaining that O'Reilly's comments on harassment during an appearance on "CBS This Morning" sent the wrong message to women at Fox News and elsewhere. I'm not interested in making my network look bad at all.

According to the Times, top executives of 21st Century Fox, including Rupert Murdoch and his two sons, Lachlan and James, decided in January to retain O'Reilly despite being made aware of the fresh complaints, the Times reported.

O'Reilly has called his firing from Fox News Channel a "political hit job" and said that his network's parent company made a business decision to get rid of him.

That's around the time Kelly's memoir was released; it included a chapter in which Kelly said she was sexually harassed by former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes.

O'Reilly complained all weekend that he was being "smeared" and wanted to discuss the matter with Steel and Schmidt, so he appeared with them on Monday morning's edition of The Daily (a NY Times podcast) to complain about how terrible this ordeal has been for him.

Bill O'Reilly is opening up about the pain of multiple allegations of sexual harassment he has received over the years - specifically his pain.

After Ailes was sacked, dozens of women accused scores of male employees of Fox News of harassment - including the current co-president of Fox News Jack Abernathy, O'Reilly's spokesman Mark Fabiani says on the website. One of O'Reilly's talking points: that no one at the network had ever complained to human resources about his behavior.

Guard Aleksandr Usachyov, who had overpowered the man, also said the man appeared to be targeting Felgengauer. State-owned media have long targeted Ekho Moskvy for its critical reporting.

Shine, who was sacked from Fox News in early May, emailed Kelly back to say executives would deal with O'Reilly.

O'Reilly was sacked by Fox News in April after revelations by The New York Times that five women were paid millions in settlements after claims of sexual harassment. "But the latest one was for $32M, reportedly paid directly by O'Reilly... right before Fox News renewed his contract".

"Perhaps it's his own history of harassment with women, which has, as you both know, resulted in payouts to more than one woman, including recently, that blinded him to the folly of saying anything other than, 'I'm just so sorry for the women of this company who never should've had to go through that"'. "Thats' is a jaw dropping figure", Kelly told her studio audience, who'd already gasped at the figure. What on earth would justify that amount?

"Many women go into the settlement agreement because they just don't want to face what potentially could be coming at them", Huddy explained of going up against a corporation.

Over the weekend, O'Reilly directed people to his website while vowing that the "verifiable truth" would emerge, and his spokesperson also accused the NY Times of omitting an affidavit signed by O'Reilly's sixth accuser in the course of her settlement. The abuse of women, the shaming of them, the threatening, the retaliation.

"It's politically and financially motivated", he told the outlet in response to the settlement.
