UN, AU, ambassadors appeal for peace before tense Kenya vote

Ruth Odinga entered an election centre without permission, and caused damage to property, a statement said.

Speaking on behalf of a group of foreign ambassadors, Robert F. Godec said Monday that the electoral commission had addressed many concerns about its operations since the Supreme Court nullified an August 8 vote because of what it called irregularities and illegalities. Mobs attacked electoral commission centers in parts of western Kenya last week, disrupting training for electoral officials ahead of this week's vote.

She should be charged, along with senator Fred Outa and others, for obstructing an election official from performing his lawful duties, incitement to violence, and malicious damage to property, the office of the director of public prosecutions said in a letter to police.

Rights monitors say as many as 70 people have been killed in protests since the August vote.

She then posted, "I'm on my Grimey 1090", "Don't Ever Get Used" and the Peace sign emoji. So mfers know not to play with the NEW you!" the quotation read.

The deaths occurred in "confrontations between rioters and police officers" between October 2 and Monday, the statement said.

About 70 people have been killed in violence since the election commission declared President Uhuru Kenyatta the victor of elections on 8 August election.

Recalling the ruling of the Supreme Court of Kenya of 1 September ordering the holding of a new presidential election, the Secretary-General and the Chairperson of the Commission express the United Nations' and African Union's commitment to assist Kenya in ensuring a credible and transparent process and upholding the constitutional process.

Kenya's police said on Friday that four people had died as result of police intervention during opposition protests in the past two weeks, amid concerns violence will break out in next week's repeat presidential vote. President Uhuru Kenyatta, who was declared the victor in August, wants to push ahead with this week's vote even though the election commission head says he can not guarantee its credibility.
