Salvation Army red kettle campaign kicks-off

Donating to the Red Kettles also allows the Army to serve almost 25 million people a year by providing more than 10 million nights of shelter and 56 million meals, along with substance abuse rehabilitation programs, after-school programs, and emergency shelter for children and families in need. This year, more than 700 children are in need of Christmas gifts through the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army of York serves more than 20,000 people each year through a multitude of programs and services. Salvation Army is also partnering with Ricker's and Needler's Fresh Market to add to that total. "A lot of people aren't carrying cash anymore so we will have a sticker on all of our kettle signs about the number to text to give, so we're upping our amount this year". "You could volunteer for two-hour slot on your own, or gather a group of friends to adopt a kettle spot for a full day".

The temperatures have dropped and the bells are ringing, it can only mean one thing - Red Kettle season has started. "We hope this kick-off event raises awareness of the enormous need in our community, but also serves as a celebration of holiday generosity". "We want others to experience the rewarding feeling that comes with providing those in need a hand up".

The Ashes: England quick Jake Ball sprains ankle as injury crisis worsens
The players that are here in Australia have a job to do to get ready for the first Test in Brisbane in a fortnight's time. However, the injury to Ball is yet another setback following the absence of their best player Ben Stokes.

"The value of our hampers will not change and will reflect on the gift card".

The money raised is not only used to provide Christmas assistance.

"We need volunteers at the Maysville Walmart on Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m.to 5 p.m. starting the Monday after Thanksgiving and the Garrison Collins Country Market until December 23". We have a street feed program on Sunday and Monday nights. "That's another way to get involved if a kettle at your entrance won't work".
