Woman Unseats GOP Lawmaker Who Made Sexist Joke About Women's March

It became the largest single-day protest in US history.

Bennett, of Egg Harbor Township, made a decision to run for freeholder after Carman posted a controversial meme about the Women's March on Washington in January that asked whether the event would be "over in time for them to cook dinner".

Still, Carman's response to the controversy upset Bennett, and she said on MSNBC that she chose to run shortly after the meeting. She ran against him.

Kate met with workers from the charity, of which she is patron, as well as children who have received its support. The Duchess, who is pregnant with her third child, has attended the past two conferences hosted by the charity.

Carman refused to apologize, saying, "the women I'm surrounded by, my family, my friends, my colleagues are all strong, confident women, women who are sure of themselves". Her opponent, meanwhile, was recently forced to publicly apologize for wearing a motorcycle vest with a patch that depicted the state of New Jersey partly covered by the Confederate flag. He said the patch didn't have any "racial overtones". The district is considered a Republican stronghold, but Bennett beat the incumbent by nearly 1,000 votes out of about 14,000 cast. One of the more delicious moments of vindication occurred when New Jersey Democrat Ashley Bennett, spurred by Atlantic County freeholder John Carman's sexist Women's March meme, ran against him and won. "Will the woman's protest be over in time for them to cook dinner?" it read, according to Amy S. Rosenberg at the Philadelphia Inquirer. Ms. Bennett defeated him on Tuesday.

Looks like Carman now has plenty of time to make his own damn dinner.
