Enes Kanter defends Frank Ntilikina against LeBron James

"That's going to make some headlines, but he should be a Knick. That's a rookie. You can not just say anything like that about him".

Last night, the struggling Cleveland Cavaliers were in Dallas to take on the Mavericks and a young exciting guard in Dennis Smith Jr.

"I mean, I don't know why he made those comments, but all I can say is we love Frank, we're happy with him", Kristaps Porzingis told reporters after the Knicks' practice on Sunday.

After starting the season late, Ntilikina has found his stride with the Knicks and has established himself as the team's best point guard and a two-way presence. It doesn't matter if it's LeBron or whoever it is, I can not just let him disrespect him like that.

Knicks center Enes Kanter tweeted in response: "Nope!" There were like nine (actually seven teams) ahead of them.

Kristaps Porzingis had his teen teammate's back, too. I've been knowing that. "I wouldn't trade Frank for anybody".

"We have Frank and Frank has done a great job for us, his abilities, the way he's grown from day one and the things that he's worked on, we expect him to be a great player also", Hornacek said. The four-time NBA Most Valuable Player awardee was referring to Smith, who scored 21 points in the said game. Ntilikina, meanwhile, is averaging 4.4 points, 5.0 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 10 games.

The 19-year-old point guard follows James and Kyrie Irving in this category.

Kanter thinks Ntilikina could be more motivated than usual for this game.

"He's an unbelievable talent [with] athleticism", said James, who had a spectacular chase-down block in the fourth quarter against Smith, who responded with a breakaway slam dunk the next possession.

With Porzingis going the extra length with his maturation process, it could be an encouraging sign of what may come over the next decade or so for the Knicks.

Notes & quotes: Forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas was waived to make room for center Joakim Noah's return from his suspension.
