Jimmy Fallon Pays Tribute To Mother In Return To 'Tonight Show'

Jimmy Fallon paid tribute to his mom on Monday's show and there couldn't have been a dry eye in the studio.

Jimmy Fallon returned to "The Tonight Show" Monday night with a heavy heart following the death of his mother last week.

Fans had no idea the late night show performance was coming, until host Jimmy Fallon teased an extremely special guest just hours before showtime.

Fallon described the 68-year-old as "the best audience", adding: "She was the one I was always trying to make laugh".

It was Fallon's first show back since his mother Gloria passed away, and at the beginning, Fallon reflected on his time with her.

Tonight Show write and producer Mike Cenzo wrote on Twitter, "She was not scheduled to do our show today". Fallon's first day back after a week off to grieve his mother's death was an emotional one and Swift helped spread the healing. She said yes with zero hesitation.

"She wasn't allowed to leave her stoop in Brooklyn", the former "Saturday Night Live" star once told NY magazine.

Of the emotional performance, he said, "I almost gasped". Tears. I think everyone in the audience started sobbing. It was a lovely coincidence in a attractive performance. "Whatever you think of Taylor, she did something attractive for Jimmy and our show today, and we're forever grateful".
