Newton's 4 TD passes lead Carolina in rout

Luckily for them, their thirst was quenched as quarterback Cam Newton delivered a nice taste of 2015 in the win. This marked the first time in franchise history Carolina has run for 200-plus yards in back-to-back games - last week the Panthers ran for 201 yards against Atlanta.

Quarterback Jay Cutler (22 of 37, 213 yards, two touchdowns, one interception and an 82.4 passer rating) often threw to spots that weren't even close to a receiver.

Miami fell to Oakland last week and now has dropped its last two contests after opening the season 4-2.

Sporting News will be providing live updates throughout Monday night's game.

As frustrating as it was for the Dolphins (4-5), who had a hard time establishing anything against the league's top defense, the Panthers - and especially Newton -were a loose bunch.

Jonathan Stewart ran for a season-high 110 yards, and Newton had a 69-yard jaunt on a read option as the Panthers racked up 294 yards on the ground.

The Dolphins showed life when Kenyan Drake went 66 yards for a touchdown on a third-down run.

Cutler's ill-timed pick set up a Cam Newton touchdown pass that gave the Panthers a 17-7 lead at halftime.

The third-year receiver from MI finished with five receptions for 92 yards and a 32-yard touchdown early in in the fourth quarter that put the game out of reach.

The Panthers, though, almost turned the ball over. Miami was never able to make the game competitive after that point.

The game turned with 41 seconds left in the first half, when Luke Kuechly intercepted Jay Cutler with Carolina leading 10-7. It completed an 11-play, 42-yard drive.
