5.4-magnitude quake hits S.Korea

A rare 5.4-magnitude natural disaster hit South Korea's southeast Wednesday afternoon, the second most powerful quake on record in a country that seldom experiences significant tremors. While no casualties have been reported yet, seven people have been lightly wounded, with over 40 people rescued.

Residents in the capital, more than 300 kilometers (186 miles) away, felt tremors and said their buildings shook. South Korea's state-run Korea Meteorological Administration measured the quake at the same strength but said the epicenter was inside Pohang.

Check out the "Dispatch" photos below. USGS reported the tremor struck at a depth of 10km at 2.29pm (1.29pm, Singapore time). No damage to them has been reported.

The nuclear power plant Singori 3 in Ulsan is believed to remain unaffected by the quake.
