Man United and Arsenal target to decide future in January

Schalke 04 midfielder Leon Goretzka - a targetfor clubs in the Premier League and La Liga - says that he will make a final decision on his future in January.

Since signing for Schalke in 2013, Goretzka has scored a total of 18 goals in 126 appearances in all competitions, while the Royal Blues now sit in third place in the league standings.

Rumours regarding Jose Mourinho and Manchester United's apparent interest began circulating across the English press on Saturday (2 December), with the 22-year-old free to begin negotiating a pre-contract agreement with overseas suitors from 1 January.

"I have to find out for myself what the next step should be", he said following his side's 2-2 draw with Cologne on the weekend (via The Mirror).

TeamTalk claim the Bundesliga outfit have offered him £150,000-a-week to keep him at the club but with a host of top European clubs vying for his signature, it seems the midfielder is tempted by a move away.

"I have to consider a million things".

Goretzka has also been in good form for Germany's global side, and is out of contract in summer, meaning he could sign a pre-contract agreement at United in January. So I need time.

There doesn't exist a deadline, but I think we are in the final phase.

Last month Germany assistant boss Oliver Bierhoff inadvertently revealed that Goretzka will be joining the vast number of German stars heading to the Premier League. The Germany global has just six months left on his present deal, and he is yet to commit to a new contract at Gelsenkirchen despite the club prepared to make him their highest-earner in history.
