Bengaluru: Woman complains molestation inside cab- Ola driver suspended

The incident took place on Sunday night at around 10.30 when the 23-year-old woman, who works as a fashion stylist in the city, took the Ola cab to reach her home in BTM Layout, a southern suburb.

While, the woman tried to escape, he activated the child lock and she was not able to open the door. "We have zero tolerance to such incidents and the driver has been suspended from the platform as an immediate action upon receiving the complaint".

"Safety of customers is our priority and we will continue to extend our full support to this investigation against the driver", the statement said.

The woman did not file a formal complaint and the police let go Reddy after stern warning.

Saudi anti-corruption drive: Detainees offered pardon
One of those released was son of the late King Abdullah, Prince Miteb, after an undisclosed financial settlement was agreed. Riyadh says most detainees held as part of the anti-corruption drive launched on 4 November have agreed to a settlement.

Following the incident an Ola spokesperson said, "We regret the unfortunate experience the customer had during their ride". She said: "I shouted and asked him to stop the auto - -unfazed, and continuing his act, he very nonchalantly asked me what was wrong". The driver took her to a deserted spot on the Ring Road in south east Bengaluru and suddenly stopped, the woman said. Fearing an attack by Reddy, the woman approached the Madivala police and informed them about the incident. He then tried to touch the woman inappropriately by reaching back from the front seat.

Interestingly, the woman told the New Indian Express that she had availed the Ola Select service on her mobile app, which helped customers get only the higher rated drivers to ply them. Even after that, the man continued to call and threaten the woman until she finally blocked his number.

The Ola cab driver in question meanwhile remains off road for now, says the company.

Now is the high time the firm owners take stringent actions against the perpetrators since this issue has now become a cause of concern and safety of passengers.
