Marvel Gets Into Fiction Podcast Game With Wolverine: The Long Night

The podcast will be a thriller/fantasy story that follows two agents who are hunting for a serial killer in Alaska.

While the announcement marks Marvel's first foray into the ever-growing world of podcasts, The Hollywood Reporter notes that it isn't the first time the comic book giant has had a brush with the audio-only format.

Dubbed Wolverine: The Long Night, this 10-episode series features an original storyline written by Benjamin Percy (Green Arrow) and starring Richard Armitage (The Hobbit) as the voice of the titular X-Man.

MARVEL NEW MEDIA and MIDROLL MEDIA's STITCHER will release a scripted podcast, "WOLVERINE: THE LONG NIGHT", in SPRING 2018 as an exclusive on the subscription-based STITCHER Premium, with a wide release for free coming in FALL 2018. Richard Armitage will lead the cast as Wolverine.

MARVEL is getting into the podcast game with a new Wolverine podcast for STITCHER. Wolverine also has a lot of mainstream appeal, and is perfectly suited for a gritty crime drama. "And it's unclear at first whether they are implicated in the murders that are occurring here and whether they might have powers, as they purport to - a connection to and a control over the fabric of light that plays over the winter skies". The rest of the cast will include Bob Balaban ("Moonrise Kingdom") and Brian Stokes Mitchell ("Mr. Robot").

Wolverine: The Long Night will be directed by Brendan Baker, with sound design from Chloe Prasinos and Daniel Fink of Marvel and Jenny Radelet of Stitcher producing.

Scripted narrative podcasts have skyrocketed in popularity during this past year, and now Marvel is looking to get in on the action. "The character of Logan and this landscape make it the ideal premiere vehicle for us, and we're excited to continue to explore the dynamic possibilities of the podcast medium".
