Court documents claim Kimrey sexually abused Mariah Woods

Sixteen hours after announcing Kimrey's arrest, Onslow County Sheriff Hans Miller said the girl's body was found by dive teams around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Angela Wiles, who started the memorial, said she felt compelled to start the memorial so that the community would focus on memorial instead of the suspect arrested for her death. Little Mariah was reported missing on November 27. She said items have come from all over the country and from places such as Japan and the United Kingdom.

"This whole community has been on pins and needles hoping we would find her alive, and Saturday when (the news) broke, it devastated a lot of us", said Tisha Christy, a neighbor. We will not discuss details of the homicide investigation. A statement issued by the Sheriff's Office says the child, Mariah Woods, is believed to be dead.

One of the most unsettling things about this case though is that Earl was Mariah's mother, Kirsty's, live-in boyfriend. After five full days of a search that included the Onslow County Sheriff's Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and hundreds of local volunteers, authorities arrested Mariah's mother's boyfriend, Earl Kimrey, and charged him with concealing her death.

He was arrested December 1 and charged with concealing of death; obstruction of justice, second-degree burglary, felony larceny, and possession of stolen property. He is being held in the Onslow County Detention Center on a $1 million bond.

During his first court appearance on Monday morning, Kimrey wore body armor as while five armed guards surrounded him.

In the court documents, Mariah's biological father, Alex Woods, outlined the reasons he is pursuing custody of Mariah's two brothers, who are also his sons, according to multiple reports and first reported by The Jacksonville Daily News. "I said you know what, I am going to be an advocate and fill out the paperwork and do it because they need a voice". Anyone who wishes to pay their respects can do so from 4 p.m.to 6 p.m.at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Prosecutors say more charges are possible. "We'll be waiting for the results of the medical examiner's report and making some decisions at that time".

Mariah Woods was presumed dead after local authorities believed to have come across her remains Saturday in a creek.

More than 700 volunteers turned out Friday as the search for the missing girl shifted to the area around a creek a few miles from her home, CNN affiliate WNCN reported.
