Dead & Company Cancel Show After John Mayer Admitted for Emergency Surgery

The pop-rock star, who is also a member of the popular Grateful Dead offshoot Dead and Company, was hospitalized for an emergency appendectomy on December 5.

The Grateful Dead spinoff group Dead & Company has postponed the remaining two scheduled concerts on its 2017 tour following the emergency appendectomy singer/guitarist John Mayer underwent on Tuesday.

Mayer also shared a tweet on Wednesday thanking fans for their well-wishes. It remains unclear whether Mayer will be able to play those shows, though the band has yet to make a formal announcement regarding the status of either gig.

Dead & Company with John Mayer has postponed its final three concerts including the South Florida performance. Information about the rescheduled concerts will be announced shortly, says Solters, and ticketholders can choose to attend the later shows or get a refund. The 40-year-old had performed with the Dead & Company as recently as Sunday. The performers' Tuesday, Thursday and Friday shows in Louisiana and Florida have been postponed.
