Hockey Canada names 32 players to world junior selection camp

Jonah Gadjovich (left) and Nick Suzuki have been invited to Team Canada World Junior selection camp that runs next week, to compete for a spot on the final 23-man roster.

Tigers defenceman David Quenneville, at one point speculated to receive an invite to the camp, was not on the final list of invited players. It will feature three games, including two matches against a team of U Sports (formerly CIS) all-stars on December 13 and 14, and a final match against Denmark on December 15. Also in Group A are the United States, Slovakia and Denmark. Group B is comprised of Sweden, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Belarus and Russian Federation, which defeated the Swedes for bronze last January.

Makar, who is now playing in the NCAA for the University of MA, was selected fourth overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

Canada's National Junior Team Sport Chek Selection Camp features a trio of games - two against a U SPORTS team on December 13 and 14, and a game against Denmark on December 15.

Montreal Canadiens blue-liner Victor Mete, Columbus Blue Jackets centre Pierre-Luc Dubois and Philadelphia Flyers centre remain junior eligible but weren't named to Canada's camp roster Wednesday.
