Willie Taggart receives loud ovation at Florida State basketball game

Although the pull of going back home to the state of Florida coaching the Seminoles was too strong, some of the OR players took to Twitter to voice their displeasure with the way Taggart handled himself in the time leading up to his departure from Oregon.

Willie Taggart started his Florida State career with the Tomahawk Chop as he arrived to cheerleaders and the Seminoles marching band.

Forty-eight hours later, Taggart's dream became a reality.

"When he expressed this position as his dream job, I knew we found our man", FSU athletics director Stan Wilcox said of Taggart. He takes over for Jimbo Fisher, who left for Texas A&M last month after receiving a record-setting 10-year offer.

Taggart is known as one of the top recruiters in the country, and he'll have a great opportunity to show his worth over the next two weeks.

"I'm very, very excited to be your football coach", Taggart told the crowd.

The Ducks were 7-5 in Taggart's lone season and will play in the December 16 Las Vegas Bowl against No. 25 Boise State. According to some, the former Ducks head coach was not completely honest with his intent.

Willie Taggart has maintained that he was open, honest, and transparent with everyone at OR as he contemplated and eventually took the job at Florida State.

He said Wednesday that when he got the call about Florida State's interest, it was a "dream come true" for him.

"If you live in the state". We watched the 'Noles.

It means Manchester City , Liverpool , Manchester United and Tottenham all won their groups, while Chelsea came second in Group C. Over the past five years, though, Premier League clubs have found it much more hard to make much headway in the competition.

"Freshman safety Nick Pickett tweeted that "(Taggart) is a liar, then gone cry (in) front of the team like we gone feel bad for em". Florida State (6-6) will face Southern Mississippi in the December 27 Independence Bowl.

Taggart didn't announce any assistant coaching hires Wednesday, but he did say the evaluation of the current Florida State staff will begin immediately.

The Florida native is returning to the Sunshine State to coach Florida State.

"This is not a rebuild, it's a realignment. They wanted it. I know he's going to do a good job here, and just to look up there and see my baby boy.it's going to be a good ride".

"It was really nice walking onto the field this morning, and walking to the 50-yard line, like, 'Yes, I made it.' " Taggart said. We're going to go out and find them and find the right guys, the right guys that are going to come here and do the right things. "Excuse my language but we were a bunch of bad asses back in the days. We're going to go out and do something (about it)".

Taggart is just the third head coach in program history since 1976.

Taggart was apologetic to his former employer and OR players, but said he was grateful for the opportunity to return to his home state.

"I apologized (to everyone at Oregon) before I left. I know this is hard for him, hard for my family, moving once again". "But this job was a dream for me".

"Excuse my language, but I want a damn good defense".
