Facebook Messenger Games celebrate one year; rolls out livestreaming feature

Facebook rolled out its Instant Games platform a year ago to developers so they could create gaming activities for Messenger and the platform's News Feed. With the expansion of the platform to over 70 games from more than 100 developers worldwide and today's new features, Facebook is hoping to encourage even more Messenger users to spend time playing games with their friends. Beginning today, however, users will be able to livestream their gaming sessions, Venturebeat reports.

Since splitting off from the core Facebook app in 2014, Messenger has expanded beyond being a simple messaging app and now offers everything from making payments to friends, ordering an Uber ride, group video chat and interacting with a wide variety of bots. "They may not. Who knows?" By the looks of things, this one will roll out title per title, since the first one slated to get it is none other thanWords with Friends. "If somebody has a community, whether that's five or 10 or a thousand people - ten thousand, a million - they're sharing the games they love with the people they care about, which is their community".

Messenger now has 70 game titles which are available across the globe, featuring games like Tetris and 8 Ball Pool.

When Instant Games first launched it offered 20 games across 30 markets, including titles like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Words With Friends Frenzy.

The platform is now adding more games to the list.

The idea with Instant Games is to boost people's time spent in Messenger by giving them something else to do besides just chat.

Facebook also revealed a new suite of games set to come to Messenger. To start the video users can press the "Start Live Video" button.

While playing a Instant Game in the Messenger app tap the camera icon located in the upper right corner of the game.

Once the broadcast ends, the video will be uploaded to either your Page or Profile depending on where you streamed to. You can remove the video post at any time, just like any other post. The feature will be introduced with Words With Friends early next year. Other titles coming soon to Instant Games include Line's Disney Tsum Tsum in 2018 and a Puzzle & Dragons game from GungHo Online Entertainment. Both games have been built by CoolGames, an Instant Games platform developer. To the people who continue to enjoy, share, compete and challenge themselves and their friends to games on Messenger, thanks for playing and game on.
