PDP Reveals Why Atiku Won't Be Allowed To Vote At National Convention

Makarfi spoke in Abuja on Tuesday when he received the chairman of the Steering Committee on the Development of Strategic Plan for the National Institute of Legislative Studies, Aminu Shagari, and members on a courtesy visit. It is a good omen to everybody in the PDP. We have credible information that some overzealous elements in the government are trying by any means to disrupt the convention of the PDP; to make sure this convention does not hold successfully.

"We are not afraid to hold meetings and convention because we are democratic", he said.

A Senior Manager at Top Rank Hotel in Utako told The Guardian that the hotel was fully booked on Monday December 4, 2017 with most of the rooms occupied by politicians.

The petitioners said that their demands became necessary to avoid a situation where the Operatives of the EFCC‎ would start chasing elected officers of the Party shortly after the Convention.

The party also alleged that some "over-zealous elements" in government were planning to disrupt the party's national convention and appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to investigate the issue and stop the "plot" in order to save democracy in the land.

In his response, Shagari praised PDP for its contributions to the building of democratic structures in the country.

He said he had a "close relationship" with Suleyman Aslan, who was Halkbank's general manager and Atilla's superior until 2013. Earlier on Thursday, a lawyer for Atilla, Cathy Fleming, sought through cross-examination to undermine Zarrab's credibility.

According to him, "You have prayed for a successful convention of the PDP".

"They know that if we have a hitch-free convention, it will mark the end of APC in power".

He also informed the PDP chieftain that he was aware of the allegations that some governors were trying to hijack the process, saying it was speculative and wrong.

As it concerns Anambra and Osun participating in the convention, we will basically have to make use of statutory delegates.

Chapter 2, Section 8 of the PDP Constitution says, "A person who desires to rejoin the party after leaving it shall (a) Apply to his ward secretary for re-admission; and (b) Unless given waiver by the National Working Committee (NWC), be placed on probation for a period of not less than one year".

The former Nigerian leader expressed hope that "PDP will see one of the best convention like never before".
