Philadelphia 76ers trade Jahlil Okafor to Nets

Philadelphia declined his fourth-year rookie option before the start of the season, meaning Okafor will be a free agent at season's end.

The Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to trade center Jahlil Okafor to the Brooklyn Nets, according to ESPN's Zach Lowe.

The Nets, 9-14 on the season, are now in Mexico City for a couple of games which includes a matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight and a game against the Miami Heat on Saturday.

Okafor is clearly gifted, though, and there indeed exists a world in which he'll carve out a meaningful National Basketball Association niche over the course of his career. Philly had to surrender what may be a decent second round pick but makes good with Okafor, who they essentially refused to play for most of the past year as they tried to trade him.

Meanwhile, Spotify noted the continued growth of hip-hop in the streaming world, with an increase of 74% over the previous year. His effort has already been streamed 3.1 billion times, while lead track " Shape of You " has been streamed 1.4 billion times.

Booker, by the way, could help the 76ers.

The Nets have now acquired two of the top-3 picks of the 2015 draft in Okafor and D'Angelo Russell.

After averaging 17.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as a rookie while starting 48 of the 53 games he played in, he was demoted to a bench role behind Joel Embiid last season.

Okafor has played in only two games for the 76ers this season and has seen his minutes dwindle as his career has progressed.
