Rep. Trent Franks of Arizona is expected to resign

Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) is expected to resign from Congress, multiple outlets reported Thursday, citing unnamed sources.

The 8th District congressman did not confirm or deny any plans to resign.

An unnamed Arizona Republican told RollCall that "rumors" of inappropriate behavior have been "swirling around" Franks "for years, at least in 2012".

Franks' office said he will make an announcement soon.

In the documents, David wrote: 'It is my specific intent not to provide any benefits hereunder to Katherine Evelyn Cassidy'. As of late, Katie has not yet commented regarding her dad's decision to leave her out of his will.

"I'll let the statement speak for itself", the Arizona Republican told reporters as he was leaving the House floor Thursday evening after voting to avert a government shutdown and fund the government for an additional two weeks. The Republican said the congressman had apparently been making plans to run for Senate in 2012, but abruptly canceled those plans.

Franks was first elected to Congress in 2002 and was reelected in 2016 by a 37-point margin. He is now serving his eighth term in the United States Congress.

His Arizona district went big for President Trump in the presidential election, and he was considered a reliable supporter of the president's agenda.
