Cards land Ozuna in trade

It's not yet known what the Cardinals traded away.

Boston has been quiet at the Major League Baseball Winter Meetings, but Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski confirmed to reporters Wednesday that the team spoke with the Miami Marlins about Marcell Ozuna before the Fish traded the All-Star outfielder to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Any trade involving Ozuna is expected to bring the Marlins a much better haul than that of the deal that sent Giancarlo Stanton to the Yankees last week.

An outfielder would also be involved in the trade.

Sindhu was making Bingjiao go through the paces in the first game as she raced to a 11-6 lead as the players took the first break. However, India's Rio Olympics silver medallist had no problem in winning the first game 21-11 in just 14 minutes.

As for the Red Sox, they don't have the Cardinals' depth of young talent, making it unlikely the Red Sox could have matched the Cardinals' offer.

That would have included Ozuna, who's coming off a season in which he hit.312 with 37 home runs, 124 RBIs and a.924 OPS while earning his second straight All-Star nod.

However, if other teams find their offensive upgrades through the trade market, it should make things easier for the Red Sox to get their desired big bat via free agency. He won the Gold Glove Award in left field and claimed the Silver Slugger Award at the same position.

With Ozuna at one of the corner outfield positions, the Cardinals are in position to shift and consider trading Stephen Piscotty to Oakland. There is little point in Miami holding on to the 27-year-old, however, considering they're gutting the team to start over, as he won't be around the next time they're any good.
