Seniors, active military members and veterans will receive a 10 percent discount, while children 12 and under will receive a 50 percent discount.

The Brightline train will begin introductory service on Saturday, with round-trip fares starting at $20 between its Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach stations.

Brightline on Thursday afternoon tweeted that its new ticketing website was experiencing delays and "booking glitches" as a result of "overwhelming excitement".

The $10 one-way tickets buy a seat in the 66-seat Smart Coach.

Brightline, the service that will eventually link Miami to Orlando, has been long awaited by the local development and tourism industries.

Brightline is the country's only privately owned and operated passenger rail service.

Initially, Brightline will offer 10 daily roundtrips on weekdays and nine on weekends, with service beginning as early as 6 a.m. and ending as late as 11 p.m.

Brightline's diesel-electric powered trains feature a variety of amenities, including retractable platforms that facilitate easy boarding, bike racks, wide aisles and free wireless Internet.

"To all South Florida residents and visitors who are exhausted of sitting in traffic, I invite you to take a ride", said Patrick Goddard, the company's chief operating officer, and newly-promoted president, at the opening ceremony. The five four-car train sets will each hold 240 people.

Despite Treasure Coast opposition, Brightline said it will begin work on the project's second phase as early as this month.

The Martin County Commission on Tuesday voted unanimously to renew two of its legal challenges, spending up to $350,000.

All Aboard Florida previously said it would consider these proposals, but would not add additional stops until the Miami-to-Orlando railroad becomes profitable.

In West Palm Beach, All Aboard is also building a 275-unit apartment complex next to the station.
