Eagles advance to NFC championship game with 15-10 win over Falcons

The Philadelphia Eagles held their nerve to defeat the Atlanta Falcons 15-10 and advance to within one win of the Super Bowl on Saturday.

Now, that's not to say things went according to plan, per se.

Jay Ajayi rallied after fumbling his first carry of the game. LeGarrette Blount led the Eagles with 766 yards rushing and scored two TDs.

Before Sunday's game, Pederson had been watching film of Foles's time with Chip Kelly in hopes of recapturing the magic Foles possessed back in 2013, and despite not putting up eye-popping numbers, Foles responded by executed a game plan built around his strengths.

The Eagles were flying with the wind and against it throughout Saturday afternoon. It's one of the West Coastiest plays in the West Coast Offense, a staple of a scheme that has been around the National Football League for more than a generation and isn't the innovation it once was. Foles played well in his first five quarters and struggled in the next five.

Having driven the length of the field in the final minutes, converting one fourth down near midfield that would have had most coaches punting. "So eliminating those mistakes helps maintain that rhythm as does completing a couple third downs".

But Foles, who was roundly questioned leading into this game, did enough. The Eagles finished 6-13 on third down and had just one three-and-out all afternoon. They never tried to power the ball with the run at the Eagles.

And, Nick Foles winning over many doubters.

The Eagles suffered zero injuries yesterday and the only inactive that could've been attributed to injury was Sidney Jones who was sidelined with a tight hamstring earlier in the week. It was unfair to think Foles would give them the same explosiveness Wentz provided, something Foles proved incapable of doing in their last two games.

Delon Wright plays just 18 minutes Thursday in Raptors' win
In the first quarter he was 0-for-6, making him 2-for-18 in that period in his four games, including 0-for-8 on 3-pointers. Kevin Durant scored 26 points and the Warriors used a 13-4 run in the fourth quarter to down the Bucks 108-94.

On their final drive, it was the Falcons' top offensive weapons who made play after play. But Ajayi fumbled on the next play with Keanu Neal recovering.

The unit will be a stable point for the Falcons going into the offseason. Ajayi sat out most of the second quarter but was back for first series of the second half. But the ball bounced off the knee of the Falcons defender and into the hands of Torrey Smith for a 20-yard gain.

That said, the Falcons still had a chance to win it. It is the first playoff victory for the Eagles since 2008. "It's a great job a great team win". The Falcons were called for two questionable pass interference penalties in the first quarter.

"We are way better than we played this year", Jones said. We weren't sustaining drives in the second half. He was 18 of 33 for 267 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

In this matchup of birds of prey, what's a dog got to do with it?

Elliott made it a one-point game with another kick at the gun when he nailed a 53-yard field goal to send the Eagles to halftime trailing 10-9.

The Eagles defense had their backs against the wall.

There was a thick fog of anxiety hanging over Philadelphia this week with the Eagles set to host a playoff game for the first time in four years. Against New Orleans or Minnesota, the Eagles are likely to be underdogs again next Sunday in the NFC Championship game. When the Falcons reached the Super Bowl last season, they did so largely because Ryan did an incredible job of spreading the ball around.
