Federal judge blocks Trump's attempt to let DACA expire for current recipients

Days after a federal judge in California temporarily blocked President Donald Trump's efforts to pull the plug on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, the federal government said on Saturday that it would ― "until further notice" ― resume accepting renewal applications for the program.

In a statement posted Saturday, the US Citizenship and Immigration Services said the DACA program will be operated "on the terms in place" before it was rescinded last September.

Salinas says she just got a job as a substitute teacher in New Haven with her DACA status. "Catholic Charities will resume our weekly DACA renewal clinics and will continue our unconditional support of the DACA community".

But on Tuesday, U.S. District Judge William Alsup in San Francisco ruled that the Trump administration's decision to eliminate DACA was based on a shoddy legal argument and called the move "arbitrary" and "capricious".

But then Warriors forward Kevin Durant defended Toronto forward DeMar DeRozan tightly on a mid-range jumper that went off the rim. Klay Thompson led the Warriors with 26 points, while Durant finished with 25 points, six rebounds and five assists .

Then on Thursday, a bipartisan group of senators presented the president with an agreement on new legislation for immigrants brought to the USA illegally as children. A Washington Post article reported that said in an Oval Office meeting that the USA needs people from places like Norway rather than "sh-hole countries" like Haiti and El Salvador.

Trump gave Congress six months to find a way to allow immigrant approved for the DACA program to remain in the USA permanently.

The USCIS will accept renewal requests from those individuals who previously received DACA status, but it expired on or after September 5, 2016.

Provide a long-term permanent legislative solution for persons with protection under Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The agency will not be accepting new applications from immigrants who may have been eligible for the program, but never applied. Those accepted for the program received permits to work legally in the USA for two years, which could be renewed for additional 2-year periods. That suit challenges the decision to end the program.
