Tres Tinkle scores 18, but Oregon State falls at Arizona

Allonzo Trier is the Arizona player to watch.

It wasn't enough to overcome their own shooting woes.

Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu scored a team-high 22 points in the win, hitting 8 of 14 shots from the field for a 57.1% field goal percentage.

"We felt like we should have had a little more of a lead", Tinkle said, "then they did what they did". The lead was down to 62-60 after Matisse Thybulle's free throws with 3:52 left, but that was Washington's final charge.

"This week was not easy, it was tough and we just had to stick through it".

Pinder knows that his main role on this year's team is to provide a spark on the defensive end, and to make a few offensive plays where they present themselves.

Evans made two free throws, a left-handed layup and a long 3-pointer from the top of the key during a 10-0 run that gave the Sun Devils (14-3, 2-3 Pac-12) a 73-68 lead with 1:22 remaining. Ionescu's double-double was her eighth of the season.

Remy Martin (12 points), De'Quon Lake (11) and Kimani Lawrence (4) combined to give ASU a 27-7 edge in bench points. Trier would hit a big-time three-point jumper making it 81-77 in favor of the Wildcats, ultimately sealing the win for Arizona.

The second loss came after blowing a 17-point third-quarter lead. Brecca Thomas had 12 points and Mya Hollingshed scored 10 as the reserves accounted for 31 points for the Buffaloes (11-5, 2-3).

"He have enormous respect for them", Miller said.

"That's two or three games in a row that we've defended quite well, so I think we're getting better in that area". The Ducks were 21 of 55 overall for 38.2 percent and had a 39-37 edge in rebounds.

"We were coming off losses where doubt creeps in", Rueck said.

Plane skids off runway on Black Sea coast in Turkey
The Pegasus Airlines flight descended into chaos when it tried to land at the ice covered Trabzon Airport in Turkey. The incident happened on Saturday night at Trabzon airport in north-east Turkey .

"It was really what I had hoped for", Miller said.

Jaylen Nowell led Washington (13-5, 3-2) with 20 points and David Crisp added 11. OR only had a 1-point cushion heading into halftime, 27-26.

"It's a huge win, especially since OR is rolling and had a huge win in Phoenix against ASU", said Arizona's Rawle Alkins, who had 13 points and six assists. "We are trying to get better at guarding the 3", coach Jason Kidd said. "A win's a win".

It's a cliche sports adage, the team with the best players wins, but that's because it's true for the most part.

"It's exciting to see that we're winning when we're not playing to the best of our abilities".

The Sun Devils (13-4, 4-1 Pac-12) entered the game as one of two teams still undefeated in Pac-12 play.

No. 8 Texas Tech did what they needed to do if they want to win the Big 12 regular season title this season: They defended their home court, erasing an 11-point second half deficit to knock off No. 2 West Virginia, 72-71, in Lubbock. They also faced a zone against Oregon State on Tuesday, when they had 10 first-half turnovers.

Miller also complemented Rawle Alkins, who had 13 points, three rebounds, six assists but five turnovers. After Ristic found himself in some early foul trouble and with OR going a bit small, Miller turned to senior and sometimes seldom-used power forward Keanu Pinder for some important minutes. White played a big role against Arizona State. Justice made four treys and Evans had three.

"You just can't underestimate that", Miller said of the importance.

He later had a moment when he was showing - and telling - Deandre Ayton was hacked to pieces during a play. Afterward, the senior spent 20 minutes popping rapid-fire 3s in the empty arena with two student managers rebounding for her.

The win was there for the taking, but a late-game collapse denied Oregon State its first road win over a Top 25 team since 1985.
