Southern California high school closed after threat from former NFLer Jonathan Martin

The photo was posted under Martin's Instagram account and featured a shotgun surrounded by ammunition.

Martin also tagged two of his former Dolphins teammates, Mike Pouncey and Richie Incognito, on the post.

According to the Los Angeles Times, police officials investigated what they thought was a "security risk", made to Harvard Westlake, but it was determined there was "no credible threat" against the school.

The Daily News also reports that no direct threat was made to the school or its students, and that the school was closed as a precautionary measure.

The alert was sent out after a former student published a social media post about being bullied on the campus, according to a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

Since the school was mentioned by name, a statement said it chose to close on Friday, "out of an abundance of caution".

The sources spoke to The Times on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case with the media.

Martin, who played for the 49ers after leaving Miami, retired from the National Football League in 2015.

Jonathan Martin has been mostly out of the public eye since leaving the Miami Dolphins after claiming during the 2014 season that he was the victim of bullying inside the team's locker room.

In wake of the tragedy at Parkland, Florida's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Harvard-Westlake chose to shut down today as a result of the photo. We are working closely with law enforcement and will share more information when we are able. He was ultimately traded to the San Francisco 49ers and played one year there before retiring as a member of the Carolina Panthers in the summer of 2015 due to a back injury.
