CM Punk says he will return to UFC on June 9

The fight will take place in CM Punk's hometown of Chicago, Illinois at UFC 225 on June 9th.

Punk was clapping back at trolls on Twitter when he broke the news. responding to someone who asked, "When are we gonna see you cry again in the octagon?"

Almost two years after his UFC signing was announced, Punk stepped in the octagon against Mickey Gall at UFC 203 in September 2016.

The competing economic instincts that are dividing Trump from the rest of his Republican Party were on full display Thursday. Dan Simmons, president of United Steelworkers Local 1899 in Granite City, Ill., said they "will allow us to compete".

Almost 21 months to the day that Punk first set foot in The Octagon, the former World Wrestling Entertainment superstar will make his return to mixed martial arts in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois, for the UFC 225 event on June 9.

He began working with Roufusport MMA Academy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, home to multiple current and former UFC Champions. His first outing in the Octagon did not last very long as he was submitted in the first round by Mickey Gall. He was immediately signed by the UFC, but his debut didn't go well by any standard. He was paid $500,000 for the fight, and said in the post-fight press conference that this was not a one-and-done ordeal. We'll see what happens.

The two actually have some type of history because CM Punk insinuated Mike Jackson was just a scrub during an interview two years ago. If Punk's statement is to be taken at face value, he'll be fighting at the event. There is no indication as of now as to who CM Punk will be fighting but it will most likely be a fighter who is also finding his feet in the sport.
