Hit-and-Run Driver Flees Scene While Dude Bashes His Car With a Sledgehammer

Two people then approached the driver, shouting and banging on the window. Officials said the unidentified driver had been arrested and there were no injuries.

A hit-and-run driver's vehicle was attacked by an angry mob who battered it with sledgehammers after he tried to flee the scene of a huge crash. The cause of the wreck is unknown.

The video shows several witnesses getting out of their cars to physically stop the driver from leaving the scene of the crash before authorities arrived.

One man tries to open the passenger-side door of the vehicle, but breaks off the handle.

In the video, one man screams "don't move", but the driver refuses to heed his words and attempts to run.

Miami Police said officers pursued Lagutenko on Federal Highway, near 48th Street.

Apple Maps will make getting around easier with new bike-sharing feature
The maps app lists Citi Bike in NYC, Divvy in Chicago, Biketown in Portland, BIXI in Montreal, and Velib in Paris. So, for users that often rely on these shared bikes for regular travel, Apple Maps won't be a big help there.

Despite repeated attempts of the people to get the driver to stop and get out of the auto, the driver ignores them and continues to accelerate.

Officers told Local10 that they don't encourage drivers or other people to try to stop someone from leaving the scene of an accident.

Dramatic video footage shows the crumpled silver Infiniti SUV attempting to escape after slamming into six cars in Miami Saturday.

"That's insane. You know, you have a crash, you stop", witness Anthony Jimenez said.

The arrest report added that Lagutenko failed to stop at the crash scene and continued traveling northbound in the southbound lanes along Biscayne Boulevard.

But the driver would not pull over, so the cop backed off because of the Miami PD's no-chase policy for non-violent crimes.
