Sukma attack reflects 'flawed policies', says Rahul Gandhi

Sukma Superintendent of Police had rushed to the spot with extra force and rescue operation had begun to safely evacuate the victims, he said.

According to official, the incident took place around 12:30 PM when troops of the 212th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were going from Kistaram to Palodi in an anti-landmine vehicle.

The injured personnel were being rescued from the spot and airlifted to the State capital.

The mine-protected vehicle (MPV) was blown up by multiple improvised explosive devices (IEDs) concealed under the dirt track, a senior official said. "I spoke to Director General (DG) CRPF regarding the Sukma incident and asked him to leave for Chhattisgarh", he tweeted.

Doctors treating the wounded CRPF jawans in Raipur said that the jawans suffered injuries due to the IED blast and not due to any firing.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh extended his condolences to the bereaved families.

Attacking the Centre, Gandhi said the incident reflected a "deteriorating" internal security situation due to "flawed policies". "To those who have been injured, I wish a speedy recovery".

Earlier on the day, Maoists had staged a similar attack but they fled after the CRPF personnel retaliated the fire.

In the a year ago, Naxals killed 25 CRPF jawans.

12 jawans of the CRPF were killed in the same district in March past year.
