The new Raspberry Pi has 5 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2

The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ is on sale now, and maintains the same price point at $35 (around £25, AU$45).

Building upon the phenomenal success of the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, which will remain in production, the new board is the latest product in the Raspberry Pi 3 range and targets a very wide range of users including students and enthusiasts, as well as experienced engineers and professionals who are developing innovative Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The chip runs at 1.4GHz, which throttles down to 1.2GHz only once temperatures exceed 70 degrees Celsius.

Wireless networking has been given a boost too, thanks to an integrated Cypress CYW43455 combination chip that rocks both 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2, routed to a Proant PCB antenna like the one used on the Zero W, for improved wireless performance, particularly in the 5 GHz band.

Improved Bluetooth. The Model B+ features the more up-to-date Bluetooth 4.2, compared to 4.0 on the Model B.

Gigabit Ethernet over USB 2.0. But this is still over three times faster than the 10/100 Mbps speeds provided by the previous Raspberry Pi board computers.

Merkel re-elected as chancellor by German parliament to fourth term
Merkel has been only a caretaker chancellor since October, and many unresolved issues await the new government. But he said that the allies "are in a position to work constructively together and govern decently".

Finally: The upgraded Pi also now supports power-over-ethernet (PoE), meaning the device will soon be able to be powered up through its ethernet port, though you'll need to wait for a separate Poe HAT to launch "shortly". These include the new processor's improved power integrity, packaging, and heat spreader, and internal clocking and voltage rule tuning.

In honor of Pi Day, many stores are offering discounts on Raspberry Pi products, so be sure to look around. This may not be necessary anymore with the new model.

Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+.

Of the 19 million Raspberry Pis sold to date, more than 9 million have been Pi 3 Model B flavors. The first example was Raspberry Pi 1 Model B+, which added two additional USB ports, introduced our current form factor, and rolled up a variety of other feedback from the community.
