Woolworths shuts doors across the country due to IT outage

Numerous customers have shared images on social media of long queues at cash registers and stores that have closed their doors.

"We can confirm that an IT issue impacted registers in our supermarkets for a short period of time this afternoon".

Trolleys abandoned at the Caneland Woolworths registers.

Social media posts have revealed shoppers are banked up in stores with their trolleys, unable to move.

The outage has also shut down entire stores.

He directed Inspector General of Punjab Police Captain (retd) Arif Nawaz to thoroughly investigate the incident. Unidentified assailants fired gunshots at the Supreme Court judge's house in two separate incidents.

Customers were asked to leave many stores after the registers failed to function. At Haymarket in Sydney, customers were told to return in "an hour", according to one tweet for ABC journalist Michael Janda.

Reports on Twitter are filtering through that Woolworths stores across the country have been shuttered as a technical issue cripples their scanning systems. "We apologise for any inconvenience caused".

Shortly after 4pm, the issue began affecting all registers across the country.

News Corp Australia has contacted Woolworths for comment.
