Are you concerned about Allegiant Air's safety record?

CBS' latest episode of "60 Minutes" featured details of a seven-month-long investigation of the Las Vegas-based low-budget carrier, including an "alarming number" of issues between January 1, 2016, and October 31, 2017. With summer just around the corner, this report has some customers anxious.

"As it relates to operating Concord-Padgett Regional Airport, the City of Concord must meet FAA and TSA requirements for security and safety, and works closely with Allegiant and many other agencies to plan and prepare for potential responses to emergency situations". Allegiant Air has a twelve month low of $111.54 and a twelve month high of $181.45. During the same period in the prior year, the company earned $2.48 earnings per share.

This isn't the first time issues have been raised about Allegiant's performance.

During a Facebook live we asked some of our viewers if they've experience problems on allegiant. I never had an issue.

Older planes can be operated very safely, but they tend to burn more fuel and require more maintenance.

Eileen Guyton, "We experienced an emergency landing coming home from Vegas". "And there was smoke in the cabin and fire coming out of that engine".

Our Scripps sister station in Las Vegas, KTNV, also reported on safety concerns in an extensive investigation two and a half years ago.

For personal guess ROI is usually expressed as a percentage and is typically used for taking any financial decisions, for the goal of comparing a Allegiant Travel Company (NASDAQ:ALGT)'s profitability or to compare the efficiency of different investments, hence, ALGT return on investment (ROI) is 8.90%.

Pacers Stun Cavs In Game 1
When the final horn sounded, the Pacers didn't celebrate or run around the floor like they had accomplished anything special. The Cavs were no match to the Pacers , as the latter torched to an 18-point win, 98-80, in their first post-season showdown.

The airline is in the process of upgrading its fleet to all AirBusses, but there are still several MD-80 planes that the company bought used.

"It has come to our attention that the 60 minutes story was instigated by a terminated employee now involved in a lawsuit seeking money damages from the company", said Gust.

"The story is outdated, bears no resemblances to the Allegiant I know, and shows a real and troubling misunderstanding of the FAA's rigorous oversight of Allegiant and all US airlines, which is truly the worldwide gold standard in transportation safety", Allegiant vice president of operations Eric Gust said in the statement.

The FAA backed up that statement releasing this letter it sent to CBS News dated April 11.

Todd Curtis, an aviation-safety consultant, said he tells relatives to avoid the airline.

The story highlights how Allegiant's problems come from the confluence of its aggressive business model and a safety culture aviation experts find to be lagging.

The statement said Allegiant is proud of "our strong safety record" and complies with all mandatory safety regulations and guidelines. "Had we identified such problems, the FAA would have taken immediate action". It does not operate out of St. Louis Lambert International Airport.
