Ex-FBI chief Comey says Trump 'morally unfit to be president'

Ex-FBI chief Comey says Trump 'morally unfit to be president'

During an ABC interview published today, former FBI director James Comey staunchly defended his decision to announce, just 11 days before the 2016 USA presidential election, that the FBI was reopening its investigation of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's use of a private email account while she was U.S. secretary of state.

Garcia also took exception with Comey's use of personal memos to memorialize private conversations with Trump and subsequently leaking them via a third party to The New York Times.

When asked if he thinks Trump is unfit for office, Comey was quick to say yes - because he sees Trump as "morally unfit". And if possible, ask yourselves, "What would I have done, and why?"

Former FBI director James Comey's almost five-hour interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos is raising concerns among veteran members of the FBI, three veterans tell The Daily Caller.

He says he knows that's a "stunning" possibility and something that he never thought he'd say about a president of the United States.

"The president is not a king but a citizen, deserving of the presumption of innocence and other protections, yet also vulnerable to lawful scrutiny", the editorial said. This President is not able to do that.

There's the damaging conclusions that a professional measurer-of-men has come to; that the President is "untethered to the truth" and unfit to serve.

A copy of former FBI Director James Comey's new book, "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership", is on display, April 13, 2018, in NY. Calling Mr. Comey a "slimeball", or the "WORST FBI director in history, by far", doesn't quite hit the Abraham Lincoln or John F. Kennedy level of eloquence and grace the job is usually associated with, but then the nation is surely accustomed to that by now.

While there are still some unanswered questions, of course, ABC's Sunday night telecast told the Comey tale from start to finish.

Man City cleared by CAS over signing of Benjamin Garre
The player's parents move to the country in which the new club is located for non-footballing reasons. If they are disciplined by CAS, they will most likely appeal and delay the implementation of the ban.

Yes: There is nothing seismic about the revelations in the book, according to the "takeaways" and book reviews.

Trump did not explain the "many crimes" he alleges that Comey and McCabe committed and there is no evidence that they have done any wrongdoing. They're still justifiably angry over Comey's decision to violate FBI rules and norms when it came to Hillary Clinton, first holding a highly unusual press conference in the summer of 2016 to excoriate her, and then announcing, 11 days before the election, that the Bureau had reopened its investigation, a decision that in all likelihood cost her the election. The FBI was also interested in Carter Page, another adviser. Prosecutors indicated in court filings last week that Cohen has been under criminal investigation for months by the United States attorney in Manhattan and that, unrelated to the FBI Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation probe, a grand jury has been hearing evidence in the case.

Trump on Sunday rejected Comey's assertion that Trump had sought his loyalty at a January 2017 dinner, saying "I hardly even knew this guy". "The challenge of this president is that he will stain everyone around him", he told ABC, which aired an edited version of the interview but published a full transcript. I mean, it's certainly some evidence of obstruction of justice.

'I guarantee that there is no political influence in any investigation conducted by the Justice Department, or the F.B.I. - not just in this case, but in any case. "It would depend upon other things that reflected on his intent", Comey said.

Stephanopoulos will interview Comey again Tuesday, live on ABC's morning show, "GMA".

Encounters with the president, Comey wrote, gave him "flashbacks to my earlier career as a prosecutor against the mob". The loyalty oaths. The us-versus-them worldview. I was putting to bed that he was even capable of such a thing.

"But her answer, 'Just do it, ' told me this is an order from the attorney general", Comey added. It was, without a doubt, one of the most anticipated interviews of the year.

"She said, 'I agree". "And you let the facts and the law decide what you should do". For Lynch to do it "would do corrosive damage to the institutions of justice". At the time, he said she was "extremely careless" in her handling of her email, which sounded close to the "grossly negligent" standard for criminal charges. Comey said, "I think it's possible".

None of those utterances, however, was as telling as what Comey said after Stephanopoulos reminded him that the president had called him a liar.
