Fifa task force arrives to inspect 2026 candidate Morocco

Morocco is vying to stage the world's biggest football prize against a joint bid by Canada, Mexico and the US.

During the final stage of the ticket sales, Federation Internationale de Football Association venue ticketing centers will open in the tournament's host cities. The federation says its president assured Morocco's delegation "he will personally lobby" African officials ahead of the scheduled vote in Moscow on June 13.

It will also visit other venues related to the organisation of the competition.

Morocco's bid committee said in a statement on Monday that the task force would visit several cities between Tuesday and Thursday as well as stadiums, training camps and fan fest sites.

Morocco will be trying to convince the FIFA experts about its passion for football, relatively compact size and "sweetspot" time zones for broadcasters. South Africa hosted the tournament in 2010, beating Morocco and Egypt in a vote.

South Korea has listed 3 main issues to be discussed at its summit with North Korea next week. Kim reportedly invited Xi to North Korea during his visit to China in late March.

The country was second to the USA for 1994, behind France for 1998 and just lost out to South Africa for the 2010 finals, the only time the event has been held in Africa.

"It is an old myth that Africa doesn't have the capacity and naysayers should stop using the political argument", said Safa president Dr Danny Jordaan.

Jordaan said it would be great for Africa to have a second bite of the World Cup cherry, adding Morocco's bid was Africa's bid.

"Under the new non-discrimination requirements under FIFA's statutes and under the Human Rights Policy, one of the red lines is anti-gay activity laws or policies", Human Rights Watch director of global initiatives Minky Worden told the Associated Press.

The Russian bear is considered a symbol of Russia, so might it be logical to think that a real bear will kick off the 2018 FIFA World Cup in some way, like handing the ball to the referee before the opening match, perhaps?
