Google improves user data transparency and control ahead of GDPR

With GDPR around the corner, one of the largest tech firms in the world outlines its compliance steps. Google has been offering data export through Google Takeout for years, but now the service has expanded and offers more control. The company has updated its privacy policy to make sure it complies with new privacy rules.

The new updates clarify what data it collects, as well as why it collects it. Navigation is now easier and clearer explanations of practices are now included. Because the SessionM platform unifies customer profiles into a single record, client representatives can service requests to opt-out of profiling, forget, modify, or export all personal data. They could view or delete data, including search history, location history, browsing history from the company's services.

The users could get a clear overview of all the Google products that they use - and the data associated with them - via "Google Dashboard".

Business users will be happy to learn that Google's Download Your Data tool is improving and expanding.

U.S. imposes travel restrictions on Pakistani diplomats
US authorities have complained that Pakistan's government has imposed travel restrictions on their diplomats. The US government has sent an official notice in this regard to the Pakistani embassy.

Such verifications are relevant because data controllers and processors are responsible ("principle of accountability") for implementing - both at the time the means used for processing are determined and at the time of the processing itself - appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure an effective level of protection of the processed personal data (known as "data protection by design and by default").

Google is also rolling out a proposition called Family Link that will let parents create a Google Account for their kids and set "digital ground rules" on any Android device, like approving or blocking apps. Users can choose to permanently delete specific activities, or days of activity that they do not want connected to their account.

Google has also been working with its global advertisers, publishers, developers, and cloud customers to prep for GDPR, the post said.

The search giant essentially admitted what you've suspected all along, that privacy policies are too complicated to just explain with words. Because we make decisions on data processing to help publishers optimize ad revenue, we will operate as a controller across our publisher products in line with GDPR requirements, but this designation does not give us any additional rights to their data.
