Microsoft reportedly working on self-designed smart speaker

The only thing close to a smart speaker Microsoft has done is the Harman Kardon Invoke with Cortana as its smart assistant, released late previous year. Microsoft and Apple are probably the one firms that don't have any smart speakers in India. The move is seen as a win-win for both Microsoft and Amazon, keeping in view of the competition in this field with Apple's Siri and Samsung's Bixby also populating this space. Microsoft is reportedly working on a Cortana powered smart speaker along with Quanta Computer, which is a Taiwanese manufacturer. For every company that took a look at the Amazon Echo and thought, "How hard can this be to manufacture", they forgot a couple of key points. Similarly, in a vice-versa scenario, while operating a device housing Cortana as the default assistant, the user would have to request Cortana to invoke Alexa. Some of them in past few years brought the AI ability to speakers.

At CES 2018, Qualcomm also revealed that its smart home technology also supports Cortana. Microsoft's Cortana came in "others" (13%), individually it might negligible.

Chhagan Bhujbal set to be discharged from hospital soon
Till he completely recovers, Bhujbal will be taking rest before returning to fully active public life, he added. He was brought to KEM Hospital on March 13 after a special court directed that he undergoes two tests.

Similar to how Google and Amazon allow other companies to release a new piece of hardware using their own virtual assistant, Microsoft does the same. The product is in the early stages of development, and is powered by the Snapdragon 212 mobile platform. As of now Qualcomm would be the major hardware supplier to the company and will surely aim to create a powerful and effective smart speaker which can be used easily.

A new report from Roland Quandt of WinFuture cites "evidence in documents from a developer team" that shows Microsoft has been taking the initiative and is now working on its own design for a Cortana smart speaker.
