BlackBerry 'Key2' global launch set for June 7 in NY

The company's official Twitter handle posted the invite for the launch of the device, which will be held in NY on June 7.

The BlackBerry Key2 is a successor to last year's BlackBerry KeyOne that boasts Android OS, and the standard BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard. The invites for the event have been sent out.

The launch of the BlackBerry Key2 has been confirmed by a tweet made from BlackBerry Mobile's official Twitter account.

The upcoming smartphone has been spotted previously on Chinese regulatory site TENAA. If TENAA listings are to be believed, it revealed details of the phone including its specifications. Also, a few leaked images provided a closure look at its design and highlight all the key differences between the BlackBerry KEYone and its successor.

The TENAA listing showcased a dual rear camera setup on the BlackBerry handset that carried model number BBF100-4.

Mothers like you are soft sponges which absorb their children's tears and squeeze out pretty bubbles of happiness and joy. I am so thankful you are my mom Happy Mother's Day . "She still talks to me now, only now she talks to me in my dreams".

Though there's no official word on the KEY2 specs, the smartphone will essentially retain the design of older KEYone with iconic QWERTY keyboard.

The QWERTY keyboard of the KEY2 may also support gestures and it is likely to feature a multitouch-supported display. Further, the phone is expected to ship with Android 8.0 Oreo.

Coming to the display, KEY2 is expected to stick to the 3:2 aspect ratio just like its predecessor. On the top, there will be a 3.5mm audio jack, while at the bottom, there might be a USB Type-C port. There are speculations that KEY2 will support 4G LTE and dual-SIM support.

Furthermore, the Key2 is rumoured to have a plastic build.
