YouTube 'Take a Break' Feature Rolling Out on Android Devices

At Google IO 2018, the search giant had announced a Wellbeing initiative to help users understand their digital habits and curb device addiction. You can go and check them out now by tapping on your profile icon in the upper-right corner of YouTube's app, then tap "Settings", select "General" and then go to the "Remind me to take a break" option.

YouTube is kicking off Google's plans to help users balance technology and life. However, the time can be adjusted as per convenience by the user.

The Take a Break and other notification features are available in the latest version (13.17.55) of the YouTube app. YouTube will also let the users to let change their behaviour of exploring the YouTube's contents.

The YouTube Take a rest feature can be found about the mobile app Putting display. There you could see the new feature with Remind me to take a break. With the rollout, this update YouTube will allow the users to set reminders at a specific interval of time. Once you set proper timing of reminder, you would receive a notification and the video which you are watching will be paused at that very moment. You can schedule it manually at any time between 15 minutes and 3 hours. You can choose to either take a break and go see how the outside world looks, or decide to hit the blue-colored "Dismiss" button and continue with your binge-watching sessions. Notably, the setting is optional and switched off by default.

It seems like Google has rolled out this feature to a limited number of users. So whenever yo want to set a reminder to stop watching the YouTube's videos, you can go to the Settings option and can set the reminder as per your requirements. In addition, Google will make available the ability to disable sound notifications from YouTube when people, for example, is asleep, in order not to distract.
