'Next time in Jerusalem': Israel's Eurovision win sparks backlash

Netta Barzilai's win in the Eurovision 2018 song contest in Lisbon yesterday means that Israel will host the 2019 competition.

It was a night filled with an intense yet exciting voting procedure at the Altice Arena in Lisbon last night, which saw Israel becoming the eventual victor of the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest with Netta and her entry Toy.

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu congratulated Barzilai by telephone, telling her she was "the best ambassador of Israel".

Apart from all the production costs, they gave us not one or two but four hosts - what will Israel do next year?

Another question mark is the much touted Jerusalem-Tel Aviv high speed railway, which was slated to open earlier this year but has delayed.

Netta Barzilai, a flamboyantly dressed singer whose instrument of choice is an electronic looper, was among the favorites to win the annual contest, a chintzy display of musical acts from more than 40 European countries and beyond.

She was given the chance to perform again for a second time at the end, but chose not to.

Anti-US protests held in Iran
Representatives in the industry had already expressed their concern about difficulties exporting to Iran , the minister said. The countries that continue to deal with Iran could face sanctions.

Yesterday, may 12, in the capital of Portugal, Lisbon, took place the final of the musical contest "Eurovision-2018".

On the contrary. Embassies are moving to Jerusalem, exports (especially of Israeli weapons) are up, and next year's Eurovision competition will be held in the unified (read: occupied) Jerusalem.

The State of Palestine seeks all of the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza territories for an independent state.

Netta! Well done! Congratulations on your victory at "Eurovision"!

Eurovision, which was first held in 1956, has an estimated global audience of about 200 million people and has been a launching pad for the likes of Abba and Celine Dion. "The gift is that the Eurovision will come to Jerusalem next year".

The lyrics say, "I'm not your toy, You stupid boy, I'll take you down". Frequently, both they and Netta would break out into a chicken dance, echoing a line in the song in which she appears to do a chicken impression.

On Saturday night, she won out over a sultry, hip-shaking pop star from Cyprus who wore a glittering outfit that bared her navel and flat stomach. "You want to get the party going", Bjorkman said. In order to safeguard that independence voice, we are proud to count you, our readers, as our most important supporters.
