Lewis Hamilton rejuvenated by Spain F1 victory but wary of Monaco GP

If Mercedes' dominance was more like what Formula One fans have gotten used to seeing from the Silver Arrows, then Hamilton's display on Sunday was also right up there with the best the Briton has produced on his way to four world championships.

In Ferrari's favour, Mercedes has struggled at certain circuits in past years, including Monaco. "We weren't happy with our cars" performance and we needed to sort it out. The drivers and teams know the track too well, and the layout of the track with those long-radius medium- and high-speed corners means that it's hard to follow another auto. The team has a 27-point lead over Ferrari in the constructors' championship. This was followed by a safety vehicle period.

Mercedes have won both titles for the past four seasons. Ten laps after the Ferraris had pitted, Hamilton ducked into the pits with nearly 20 seconds to spare ahead of the next auto. But it's nearly all sorted and we'll pick it up at the right time, ' added the Austrian.

"But Mercedes have looked strong".

Monaco will stage the next Grand Prix, and it is a race that always seems to throw up incident and excitement, and Hamilton himself knows the trials and tribulations that come with racing on the Monte Carlo roads. But Mercedes officials and drivers are saying one race doesn't make a season. "Honestly before the race we expected one stop was not going to be possible - at least to do the race quickly with one stop. But I have the will to want to get this one and do it right, ideal weekend in, weekend out". Clearly the Ferrari was eating up its tyres more than the Mercedes, which is why the team felt the need to also do an extra pit stop.

Apple is not ideal , by any stretch of the imagination, and the company certainly has other issues to contend with as well. Cook is counting on a new wave of graduates to decide just how ridiculous it is.

Vettel gave away his position when Ferrari made a decision to go for an extra stop and give the German driver fresher tyres. I was comfortable but at no point did I feel like I was going to lose it. "But if they go back, it will be like admitting the mistake", a source said.

"Well, of course I wanted to fight for the win of the race today". Why on earth he kept his foot hard on the throttle, spun back into the pack and created that smoke cloud I have no idea, but it was an extremely unsafe thing to do.

On to Monaco next, where I've been this weekend driving at the Historic Grand Prix weekend in a Williams that Keke Rosberg won the race in back in 1983. However, the Haas of Romain Grosjean spun at Turn 3 and took out the Renault of Nico Hulkenberg and the Toro Rosso of Pierre Gasly.

"As much as I am overwhelmed by the victory here, my mind is already on Monaco, and I remember it wasn't a pleasant Sunday night past year".
