Xiaomi Redmi S2 for $156 is an Amazing Selfie Smartphone to Buy

Earlier today, Xiaomi confirmed that it will be holding a launch event in Shenzhen.

In the leaked internal mail, Jun expresses that photography is one of the most important features in modern smartphones and that there is a need to improve the technology further to take Xiaomi to the top. Now, whether Xiaomi calls the phone Redmi Y2 in India is what we will have to wait and see. However, what is interesting is that the phone is likely to launch in India as the Redmi Y2 instead of Redmi S2.

Xiaomi had launched its selfie-focused smartphone Redmi Y1 aka Redmi S1 in India a year ago.

Redmi India, on its Twitter account on Monday posted an official teaser video which said the phone is scheduled to reach the Indian markets for June 7 in New Delhi. With the same iPhone X-like double shooters, the Redmi S2 ships saw us as the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Additionally, handsets like Mi S-series, Redmi 6-series, Redmi A-series, and more have been listed. It is highly expected that the upcoming smartphone is none other than the Xiaomi Redmi S2.

As for the Redmi Note 5, this handset comes in two versions as well - a base 3GB + 32GB version for Rs.9,999 and a higher priced 4GB RAM + 64GB version for Rs. 11,999. Apart from eliminating the aspect ratio of 18: 9, the screen size extends to 74.5% of body ratio.

The selfie camera of the phone is the biggest highlight. With 3080mAh battery inside, the Redmi S2 will get you through the day just fine. Redmi 5 and Redmi Note 5 doesn't come with a dedicated microSD card slot. The phone has Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, GPS, and a fingerprint reader located on the back. There is a 16MP front-facing camera with LED flash.

While IDC did not give out shipment numbers for the feature phone segment, it said the 4G feature phone market in India continued to grow at more than 50 per cent quarter-on-quarter, driven primarily by Jio Phone.

The core selling point of the Xiaomi Redmi S2 is the portrait selfie.
