Keeven Robinson: Black 22-Year-Old's Death in Police Custody Ruled Homicide

"Our initial autopsy findings, and I'm going to be brief, reveal significant traumatic injuries to the neck, okay?" "It's whether the force was excessive".

Ryan Jackson, who was shot by Jefferson Parish deputies during a drug investigation a year ago, recently filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the sheriff's office, the Advocate reported.

The detectives were read their rights, and State Police troopers were there when the detectives gave statements about Robinson's death, authorities said.

The 22-year-old had allegedly been a target of investigation for suspected drug dealing. While they say the 22-year-old had his share of issues, they say he didn't deserve to die. Robinson reportedly tried to get away in his auto, but crashed.

The sheriff said Robinson embroiled in a struggle with the police, who managed to get him into handcuffs.

Robinson was taken to Ochsner Medical Center but could not be revived by medical personnel. We have the justice system for that reason. Robinson was out of the vehicle and when he saw officers approaching, he drove off.

"We know at that moment [detectives] used force during that arrest in order to make the arrest, an effective arrest after a pursuit and after a foot chase", Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto said at the Monday press conference. Robinson hopped back into his vehicle when he spotted detectives approaching and sped out of the parking lot, hitting two JPSO cars during the brief, half-block auto chase, authorities said. "Our police officers have to use force and are justified to use force on many occasions".

US Imposes Sanctions on Iran Central Bank Governor over Terror Links
With this, the Treasury Department is trying to clamp down on Iran's ability "to abuse the USA and regional financial systems". Seif, as the central bank's governor, has helped guide Iran's economy through the web of sanctions in place on that country.

He said it was too early to conclude whether a choke hold was used during the struggle, adding that Robinson's history of asthma may have played a role in his death.

Lopinto said Cvitanovich told him of the autopsy report Saturday.

NBC News reports, "Jefferson Parish Coroner Gerry Cvitanovich said Monday that the post-mortem examination showed Robinson's death was "caused by the actions of another.' The damage to the soft tissues of his neck, he said, left him confident that the cause of death will be 'compression asphyxia" when the autopsy process is completed".

Hours later, Robinson's family led more than 200 neighbors on a march past the spot where her only son died.

Keeven's family and friends say they hope the protest helps to bring about change. "They're grieving, and today they had to find out that Keeven lost his life at the hands of another", she said, according WDSU. Lopinto has also asked the Louisiana State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation civil rights task force to join him in investigating how Robinson's death occurred.

She credited Lopinto and Cvitanovich for being open about the autopsy results and the investigation.
